" From planning to rehearsals Natalie brought fabulous energy to the project. She directed the cast creatively and devised some wonderful scenes. Given the complex brief within a very short amount of time, Natalie met the challenges we faced and brought to life a truly wonderful piece of work."

The Barbette Project

i'm honoured to have been part of Stav Meishar's  R&D for The Barbette project.

The true story of Barbette*, a legendary gender-bending trapeze artist, woven with the lived experiences of LGBT+ people and circus artists today. A show that's part historical research, part autobiographical explorations of gender then and now, in a mix of theatre, circus, video projections, and live art.

Artist feedback from "Lockdown Experiments"

"Bold and imaginative, throwing everything and the theraband at devising processes to create fun work and inspire confidence."

"As a director Natalie always manages to bring that balance of comfortable and challenging to her creative exercises. She creates a safe space for you to take risks as an artist and will always go the extra mile to support and develop you."

Natalie has many creative ideas that can be fun to explore with the right amount of pacing and time to develop them. She was open and accommodating to each person's different circumstances.

Natalie is a director who takes circus seriously and is well placed to explore its potential. She understands the practice well and is skilled at getting performers to go beyond what they perceive of themselves.

Natalie was great to work with and her expertise and clear direction really helped me in my creation of new work. She facilitated the creative process and generation of ideas by providing clear and relevant exercises and giving knowledgeable feedback on how I could improve my work further. I’d definitely recommend Natalie as both a director and a mentor.
